Pastene® Artichoke Hearts. Imported. A Tradition of Quality Since 1874. Pastene artichokes in brine. Pastene hearts of artichokes are delicious as hors d'oeuvres, or as a salad, with french dressing. Italians add them to their "fritto misto" prepared as follows: Drain off the liquid and cut each heart in half, lengthwise. Dip in slightly salted beaten egg, then in a mixture of Pastene bread crumbs, a little Pastene grated parmesan cheese, a little chopped parsley, salt and pepper to taste.
